This part of the Pyrenees is renowned for its beauty. Cycling the many mountains that surround this location, is a major attraction during the summer months and often hosts the Tour De France in the valley. Off road cycling, fishing, walking and skiing are just some of the other activities on offer for you and all the family.
The Ski resort of Luchon-SuperBagneres is just 10 km from the Chateau (via gondola New 2023) and offers 32km of family friendly skiing with on piste dinning.
The Ski resort of Peyragudes takes slightly longer to get to (approx. 40 mins by car) but enjoys 60km of ski runs.
Further afield are the resorts of Baqueira Beret, Spain, that offers 171km of skiing and the opportunity to stop off for Tapas in the town of Arties which is enroute.
Take to the skies with a tandem Paragliding experience or spend a week learning to go solo!
Experiences and Schools are located in Luchon and Peyragudes and can be booked on line in advance.
During the summer months, you can take to the waters of one of the local rivers in the Hautes Garrone region. This is always one of the favourite activities for families to enjoy.
There are a number of Outdoor activities available for horse lovers and are available in Luchon, Peyragudes and the border of Spain.
All levels are catered for, but some of the best riding is for the more advanced equestrian.
The delightful town of Luchon is just 10 km's away from Chateau Laffargue, with is own thermal baths and spa. The fully renovated spa re-opened in July 2024 and offers a wide range of treatments for all the family, plus the refurbished Thermal Baths are open to all.
There are a number of Prehistoric cave systems or grotto's in the area and numerous historical sites, Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges offers a cathedral situated in the centre of picturesque medieval town. Chateau de Bramevaque overlooks the picturesque medieval town, and is also well worth a visit.

You can hire bikes locally or bring your own and store them at the Chateau. The Gondola (located in the centre of Luchon) provides a summer service, taking you and your bikes up the mountain, where you can dine and enjoy the views, before heading back down the mountain via every level of decent, from beginners to advanced!
La Pique runs below the Chateau and can be seen from the property. The river offers many opportunities for fishing.
